Last few inches make all the difference

Continuing my search for high-speed peace and quiet onboard the lairy Tiger, I picked up very cheaply a well-used Touratech screen spoiler which came off an old R1150GS.  It was a bit rough and missing some bits – a few nuts and bolts – but I thought I’d give it a go.

I replaced the missing nuts and bolts, and put it in the oven to soften it up so that I could add some curvature to the dead flat perspex – and stuck it on.

Brilliant.  On top of the Skidmarx screen, the screen spacers and the mirror extenders – I finally seem to have solved the buffeting problem on the Tiger.  This Touratech screen only adds about 4 inches to the height of the screen, but it makes all the difference.  Buffeting is all but non-existent at up to about 90ish – I can ride with my visor open quite happily.  It’s still noisier than I’d like – but that’s due to the relatively narrow width of the original screen which resolves the air it displaces to right where your ears are.

Admittedly it looks a bit rubbish ( although it clips on and off very easily ) and I’m not a fan of Touratech gear generally – but I feel like after much mucking about – this little addition finally makes my Tiger acceptable to me in terms of distance comfort.
