New pads all round, fender-extender fitted.

Rear pads were shot, front weren’t far behind so I changed the whole lot.  Went for EBC sintered on the front ( hopefully for a little more bite ) and non-sintered on the rear which is wearing quicker. I noticed that the fluids looked old despite the 6k service Triumph carried out last month included changing ‘all fluids’.  Will put new fluid in tomorrow.

I seem to be trailing the rear brake a lot more on this bike than I did on the GS’s.  Probably because this bike has less engine braking than the big twins, and also because the front end is much more bouncey and less stable – so trailing the rear into corners is advantagous in the not low-siding stakes.

Fitted a front fender exender to help keep the winter crap off the engine.  I didn’t use the supplied plastic rivet things, instead I used little stainless steel nuts and bolts.

Checked oil. Oil good.

I was annoyed to notice that the top bolt on the left-hand side footrest hanger had shook itself loose and disappeared – especially annoyed as most folk say it’s only the right-hand side hanger which loses it’s bolts, so I hadn’t bothered to look at the LHS when whilst I was sorting out the right-hand side bolts.  Following me? Well it’s starting to look like we’ve seen the end of summer, so it won’t be long before the council are out coating the roads inches deep in salt, so I thought I’d beef up the rear mud flap to help protect my rear shock and swing-arm bearings. (more…)

Last few inches make all the difference

Continuing my search for high-speed peace and quiet onboard the lairy Tiger, I picked up very cheaply a well-used Touratech screen spoiler which came off an old R1150GS.  It was a bit rough and missing some bits – a few nuts and bolts – but I thought I’d give it a go.

Completely off-topic, but I thought I’d post this up in case anyone searching has the same problem as me. I was trying to work out how to take an array, and remove duplicate (triplicate, etc, etc) entries. (more…)
